Gouda Milkmaid – by Luntrus

Vermeer’s Milkmaid and our beautifull Gouda inspired Polish street artist Luntrus to make his own version of the Milkmaid.

He placed his work on a utilites cabinet on the corner of the Korte Groenendaal and the Market and left Gouda.

Local artist Maaike Hoonhout, known for her own unique way of looking at our town, saw it and posted a pic to Facebook. A local edition of a national paper as well as me, traced Luntrus and contacted him. The paper wrote a nice article about Luntrus and his work and I asked him how he felt about perhaps making a few copies to sell in my shop.

And so, Luntrus made 5 copies of his Gouda Milkmaid for The Gouda Shop and brought them over (really, it’s him in the pic!). The copies are unique and numbered 1 to 5.
